My apologies if this post appears to be incoherent as parts of it was actually drafted in August but I didn't want to remove them as they are an apt description of my thoughts then.*
First up on the updates.
I am married!
Gawd am I so glad that it's over. Although I took a rather chillax approach towards my wedding preparation initially, the wedding jitters hit me during the last few months and boom! My mind went blank and I halted all brain intensive activities (actually I lazy la) to concentrate on the wedding preparation.
But now that it is over and I have some time for reflection, I must say that we are pleasantly surprise by how well it turned out and we are extremely thankful to our loved ones for helping us out.
In fact, there are many things to be thankful about for our wedding.
Our guests appears to be happy and truly joyful with no hints of any dissatisfaction , the hotel service and food were excellent (Crown Hotel if you are interested) and lastly, we were genuinely touched by the dedication of our wedding helpers.
THANKS EVERYONE!
And then there's the bonus!
After we returned from our honeymoon, we realised that the Ang Baos (wedding gifts) collected were more than sufficient to cover the cost of the wedding.
Wa..This was really quite unexpected because we sincerely wanted our guest to celebrate our union with no monetary burden at all; and we relayed this message to them quite clearly to them when they enquired on the cost, so we had really low hope of recovering the amount.
I guess our unintentional reverse psychology worked really well this time round :p
Another thing! I want to thank my wonderful wife for being so understanding and willing to share the burden of the wedding. For the last 3 years, we shared a joint account where we deposited $1000 into the account every month, in preparation for our wedding. This enable us to settle all the wedding expenses before we even step into the wedding hall, which helps us tremendously in reducing our wedding stress.
LOVE YOU TO BITS WIFEY! (Must say else I'll die a slow death)
Okay. Enough of me yakking about the wedding. Let us go back to the updates of my portfolio now.
I am actually pretty glad to report that my portfolio has exceeded the S$50K mark! In fact, my portfolio stands at around S$59.5K currently which means I have managed to hit my target for my journey to a million:p

Portfolio updates for the month of Jul - Dec'16:
- Received dividends from the following counters which was injected back into the portfolio:
- VWRD - $58.03
- Fortune REIT - $146.43
- Starhill REIT - $103.60
- Sembcorp Industries - $16.00
- $4600 was deposited into the portfolio.
Actions I will take for Jan'16:
- If the price of STI ETF drops below $2.70, I will make a purchase of about S$2700 worth of STI ETF. A further drop of 10% to $2.43 will see me funneling an additional S$2500 into STI ETF.
- S$2500 will be vested into VWRD when the price of VWRD drops to USD$63, and a further drop of 10% to USD$56.70 will entail me making a further investment of S$2500 into VWRD.
- If I follow my asset
allocation strategy strictly, I have to make further entries of
approximately S$3000 each for stocks in my Income Stocks and Growth
Stocks categories. For a start, I will begin with the assessment of
Far East Hospitality REIT(completed lo), Ascendas Hospitality Trust, Aimsamp REIT, ARA Management, Kingsmen Creative, Sembcorp Industries and Ho Bee Land.

Hello SI!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your wishes.
Nice hearing from you. It's been awhile. Hahaha
No la. Is my wife give chance to me, didn't really have very "princessy" demands like a $50k arch of flowers, etc. Heng ah!
Next up will be the moving-in to our new house! These are exciting time for us indeed:D
But first, let me wish you a very Merry Christmas and joyous New Year! Hope you'll have great fun and laughter with your family this season:D
Hi PP,
ReplyDeletecongratulate on urs marriage.
I would want to purchase VWDR, which broker are u using? DO u mind sharing? I am currently using POEMs for STI ETF.
Thanks,
V P
Oh hi VP 👋🏻
DeleteThanks for the wishes:)
I'm using Stand Chart to purchase VWRD. It's not the cheapest, but it does not have any miscellaneous fees (min 3 trades per mth, min amount, etc) except for the standard fees.
But Interactive Broker could be cheaper if you trade more than 3 times a month, or have more than USD$100K with them.
I choose stand chart because I not rich enough:(
Do note that the above information was last checked more than 1year ago so there could be some changes now.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Congrats Passive Peon! :)
